SHINE BRIGHT WEAR BRIGHT 2023
THREE CHILDREN IN EVERY CLASSROOM HAVE A DIAGNOSABLE MENTAL HEALTH DISORDER. ONLY ONE CURRENTLY RECEIVES SUPPORT…
COULD YOU CHOOSE WHO IS LEFT OUT?
You can help CHUMS to change this, so that children who need support CAN access it.
We are asking for schools, nurseries and organisations across Bedfordshire and Luton to take part in SHINE BRIGHT, WEAR BRIGHT between 6th and 12th February 2023, for Children’s Mental Health Week.
School children, staff and customers are encouraged to talk about mental health, being kind and being ourselves, ending the week with a non-uniform ‘wear bright’ day with children and staff donating £1 to CHUMS. Schools, nurseries and organisations can also take part in other fundraising activities such as a talent show, a sponsored silence, cake sales or sponsored football events.
In 2023 we are asking everyone to take part in SHINE BRIGHT, WEAR BRIGHT and fundraise vital funds for CHUMS and talk about mental health. This year’s theme is #LetsConnect. Pupils and adults are being asked about making meaningful connections. People thrive in communities and having healthy connections with family, friends and others is vital for our mental health and wellbeing.
Wearing Bright can include brightly coloured hair, wigs, makeup, glitter or clothes.
CHUMS has been supporting children and young people for 25 years. In our first year we helped 40; in 2023 it will exceed 4,000 across every CHUMS service!
We are proud and thrilled to have been helping children and young people with their mental health and wellbeing since 1997 but to continue some of our services we need support from the local community.
CHUMS Charity services include:
- Trauma (bereavement and non-bereavement)
- Bedfordshire Suicide Bereavement Service (BSBS)
- Disability Friendship Scheme
- Recreational Therapy (therapy through music or football programmes)
- Babyloss
